My glimpse of Chomolungma

pics, travels

Once in a lifetime opportunity while in Kathmandu.  I hitched a ride on a helicopter to Everest base camp.  Approximately 45 mins each way with views that cannot adequately be describe or pictured.  One of the most beautiful places on our humble planet for sure.

Along our journey, the “hills” were glorious with sprinkles of homes, farms, and villages along the way.  Even saw a 600 year old monastery.  Occasionally witnessed hikers walking along the vast countryside.  So many trails all throughout this region and no wonder why so many come here to trek.  Future hiking hope of mine.

Lukla Airport in the town of Khumba.  Apparently the most dangerous airport to land in the world.  The beauty was humbling.

Last but not least Everest, also known as Sagarmatha (सगरमाथा) and in Tibetan as Chomolungma (ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ).  Technically a mojority of these pics show Lhotse, which is commonly identified as Everest.  For 4 of the 5 mins at base camp, we too believed is was Chomolungma until the guide pointed out that the tip was just behind Lhotse.  Regardless unimaginable, awe inspiring, and literally breath taking.  We had around 5 mins there given lack of oxygen and I certainly felt it sprinting back to the helicopter.

Ramesh @ Well Nepal Treks & [PILOT] @ [TBD] thanks so much for one of the most memorable adventures in my life.
